The Office of Technology Transfer, in cooperation with the Center for Entrepreneurship proudly present F.I.R.E. in December:

“The Center for Medical Technology Innovation”

Greg Gdowski, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Medical Technology Innovation will be giving a presentation on the CMTI. This exciting new initiative at the University of Rochester makes use of our expertise in medicine, engineering, innovation, and entrepreneuship as it coordinates activities to develop new solutions to clinical problems.

When: Tuesday, 11 December 2012, 12:00 – 1:00 PM

F.I.R.E. Series – April 12th!

“Positive and Negative Data in Patent Procurement — When to Provide It and Why It Matters”

Our presenter this month is Tina McKeon, Ph.D., J.D. Dr. McKeon is a founding partner of McKeon Meunier Intellectual Property Law in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. McKeon earned her Ph.D. in Anatomy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her J.D. (with distinction) at Emory University. She was named Atlanta’s Lawyer of the Year for 2012, and her other awards are too numerous to mention.

F.I.R.E. Series Tomorrow! Patenting Biomarkers and Diagnostic Methods

Neil Shull, associate in the biotechnology/chemical practice group at Sterne Kessler Goldstein Fox, will present a free talk, “Patenting Biomarkers and Diagnostic Methods,” at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Class of ’62 Auditorium (G-9425 and 1-2495) at the Medical Center. The talk, which will examine strategies to improve successful outcomes at the patent office, is part of the FIRE Lecture Series. Breakfast refreshments will be provided. F.I.R.E. – February 9, 2012!!

“TEN and HTR—Entrepreneur Programs and Services in 2012 “

This month we will be discussing some of Rochester’s greatest resources for entrepreneurs — The Entrepreneurs Network and High Tech Rochester. Our presenters will be Jean Kase, Executive Director of TEN and Mike Riedlinger, Commercialization Manager at HTR. Ms. Kase will discuss the Entrepreneurs Network and the upcoming Pre-Seed Workshop, and Mr. Riedlinger will discuss HTR, the services they provide, and upcoming events they are sponsoring. Come hear about the programs and services available through two UR affiliates to assist inventors, researchers, and entrepreneurs evaluate their business opportunities, learn from national and regional experts/serial entrepreneurs, and connect with business, technical and funding resources.
